Imo Assembly removes speaker

The Imo State House of Assembly removed its President Kennedy Ibe and replaced him with Emeka Nduka.

Emeka Nduka was elected today, 19 September.

Nduka, who represents the Ehime Mbano State constituency, was immediately sworn in by the Clerk of the Assembly, Chinelo Emeghara.

Ibe, who represents Obowo State Constituency, was elected President in November 2021, following the removal of Paul Emezim as President.

Ibe was suspended when he was elected number one in the legislature.

The Imo State House of Assembly has now had four speakers in three years after Nduka was elected.
