Nigerian Police Spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi has warned Nigerians against fighting, saying the law presumes a person to be a murderer if the person they are fighting and injured dies within a year and a day.

Olumuyiwa said that when a person causes bodily harm to another person, they face a higher penalty than assault or assault causing damage.

”If you hit someone, you fight and you hurt someone, do you know that if that person dies within a year and a day, the law still presumes that you are the one who killed the person, that the injury you caused to that person is always the cause of death unless otherwise determined by experts, autopsy or otherwise. That’s why it’s dangerous. ”

He warned against fighting with people. He said people can easily vent their anger by just talking and not fighting because that can lead to something else.
