I look better and I still play at a high level
Cristiano Ronaldo has ridiculed former Man Utd team-mate Wayne Rooney in a bombshell interview calling Rooney ‘done’.
Rooney recently slammed the 37-year-old megastar for his behavior at the club, including leaving a game early because he has no ‘respect’ for manager Erik ten Hag.
In a new interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo says he feels “betrayed” by the Red Devils, having not been allowed to leave Old Trafford since submitting a transfer request in the summer.
The Portuguese striker then ridiculed Rooney, who is four months younger than him but has already retired. “I don’t know why he criticizes me so much,” Ronaldo said on Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV.
“Probably because he’s finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level. I’m not going to say I’m better than him. It’s true,” he added with a smile.
The Portugal captain, who is due to play in his fifth World Cup this month, then offered his thoughts on how Sir Alex Ferguson might feel about the Red Devils’ situation, having failed to win a Premier League title for nearly a decade and staying firmly behind their rivals.
“He knows better than anyone that the club is not on the path it deserves to be”
He knows. Everyone knows. People who don’t see that… it’s because they don’t want to see; they are blind.”
