House Majority Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa remanded for alleged murder (video)
The majority leader in the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, was remanded in custody for murder and arson.
Law enforcement authorities confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, March 1, saying Doguwa was apprehended at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
According to reports, the APC MP is suspected of carrying out an attack on the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in his constituency, which resulted in the death of six people. It was alleged that the INEC official declared Doguwa the winner of the election at gunpoint.
After being arraigned in Court 58 of the Magistrates Court in Nomansland area of Kano State Metropolis on Wednesday evening, the magistrate, Ibrahim Mansur Yola, issued the dismissal order after the reading of the first report of information. He then adjourned the case to March 7.
