Herbalist arrested for raping patient’s mother in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command arrested a herbalist, Monday Ishaku, for raping the mother of a sick patient after drugging her.

Command spokesman SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed in a statement on Monday, September 12, said the suspect was arrested following a report filed at Tafawa Balewa Divisional Police Headquarters. by the victim’s husband, Yalda Istifanus.

According to Mr Yalda Istifanus, his teenage daughter fell ill and he took her to the suspect who claimed to be a herbalist, for treatment.

However, the suspect claimed that his wife, Rejoice Yalda is responsible for their daughter’s illness as she belongs to a secret society but promised to treat the duo.

“On 06/09/2022 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Detectives attached to Tafawa Balewa Divisional Police Headquarters successfully arrested a 32-year-old Ishaku ‘m’ Monday from Anguwan Ruga who claims to be a herbalist for knowledge of the channel of a Rejoice Yalda ‘f’ from Nahuta after being drunk at home,” the statement read.

“The victim’s husband, a Yalda Istifanus ‘m’ from Nahuta disclosed that on 03/09/2022 his 19-year-old daughter Mirable Istifanus ‘f’ was ill after medical treatment, there was no improvement of his state of health.

“On 09/05/2022 he decided to take her to Monday Ishaku who told the husband that his wife Rejoice Yalda is responsible for their daughter’s illness because she belongs to a secret society and promised to treat both the mother and daughter in In view of this, the suspect deceived the terrible health care applicants and committed an atrocious act

“Against the backdrop of this development, the Command wishes to use this medium to warn parents to beware of whomever they take their children to for any form of healing and should not allow desperation but objectivity to ‘to be their guide in finding a cure for their sick children, there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing.’
