Gunmen kill trainee doctor in Ebonyi

Gunmen suspected of being armed robbers killed an intern attached to the dental therapy department of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Hospital in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.

The dental therapist identified as Kelvin Onuchie, was shot dead outside the front door of his residence in Mberi Street, Abakaliki, on Wednesday evening May 25, 2023.

According to the Nation, he was outside the gate making calls around 8 p.m. when gunmen shot him before fleeing the area.

A source in the area said the victim had returned from a mid-week shift and was making a call outside his door at the “Corpers’ lodge” where he is staying when the gunmen shot him.

The gunmen, according to the source, were believed to have completed their operation/robbery somewhere in the area.

“They were probably fleeing, only to see Mr. Kelvin Onuchie, making outside calls, which they apparently perceived as a threat, and shot him as a result,” the source said.

The deceased he was rescued from was from Agbor in Delta State.
