Gunmen kidnap architect in Calabar

Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers abducted an architect and project manager for a construction company in Calabar, Cross River State, Anozeng Egbe (pictured).

Mr Egbe’s kidnapping comes just days after police rescued 9 travelers abducted along the Okomita axis of the Calabar-Ikom highway.

Egbe, is Project Manager of Faith Global Int’l Services Ltd (aka Faith Plant).

A witness, who declined to release his name for security reasons, said Egbe was abducted around 9 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022, when he went to brief his boss at his residence at the interior of Summit Hills Estate in the municipality of Calabar.

According to the witness, the gunmen, numbering about 5, drove a Honda SUV and wore black camouflage covered with black caps and were well armed.

“The stern-looking gunmen had a bigger target, which was the CEO of the Faith factory, Mr. Micheal Asuquo. But when they arrived at his door, the security man asked them who they were and if they had an appointment with the chief,” the witness told the Daily Sun.

“They said yes and added that one of his trucks had been intercepted by them and that they wanted to discuss the terms and conditions before the said truck was released.

“The security man told them (the gunmen) to wait for him to confirm their meeting with his employer. As he waited at the door, the company architect came in to inform his boss of the day’s activities, the gunmen intercepted him and tied him up in their steaming vehicle and drove off.

The witness further testified that he observed that some of the gunmen had been keeping watch in the area since 4:00 a.m. before targeting the residence of Faith Plants.

Cross River State Command spokeswoman SP Irene Ugbo confirmed the incident.

“The incident happened at Summit Hill Estate near Mohammed Muritala Highway. We are already working on it.” said the PPRO.

Security sources said they suspected a new gang had entered the city and they would try to track them down.

The source, however, revealed that they are handicapped with the logistical support to deal at full throttle with the kidnappers who have been terrorizing the state of late, pleading with individuals, corporations and voluntary organizations to join in. to security agencies in the fight against delinquency and criminals.
