Gunmen assassinate the leader of Osun
Gunmen suspected of being assassins killed a chief identified as Gbenga Okotore in Okutu-Ope community, Ilesa, Osun State.
It was established that the assailants shot Okotore at close range.
According to the Nigerian Tribune, the gunmen fired sporadically in the air before killing their target.
A resident of the area who gave his name as Adekunle Adegbola, said the eThe whole community was bereaved, adding that the the deceased could have been dragged to the place where he was killed.
He said they heard the sound of gunfire when the incident happened but were unable to get closer to the place for fear of being killed as well.
Command spokesman SP Yemisi Opalola who confirmed the incident on Thursday, March 16, 2023, said the perpetrators would be apprehended.

She added that a team of detectives had opened investigations into the case and that in no time the perpetrators of this despicable act would be arrested and would not go unpunished.
