Gunmen abduct muslim cleric and his son in Kwara, demand N100m ransom

An Islamic cleric identified as Alfa Sofiu Amolege and his two sons were taken by suspected kidnappers to Oko-Olowo, a suburb of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Saturday November 19.

According to locals, the trio were attacked at their private residence in Oko-Olowo, along the Ilorin-Jebba highway, after the suspected kidnappers removed the burglary from a window in the building.

An escape attempt by Fasansi was met with strong resistance from the kidnappers who reportedly rained bullets on him and also beat him. He was, however, thrown into the bush by the kidnappers who believed him to be dead. He was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital where he is being treated.

The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of 100 million naira.

Confirming the incident, Kwara State Police Command Spokesman SP Okasanmi Ajayi said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
