Governor Udom Emmanuel’s achievements in road construction baffle even his biggest critics

Udom State Governor Emmanuel has delivered on his promise to the people of Akwa Ibom with the construction of several roads across all senatorial districts in the state.

During his seven years in office, Governor Udom opened several villages with the construction of roads that will survive several generations.

Recently as part of the activities marking the 35th anniversary of the creation of the State, Governor Emmanuel led dignitaries in the inauguration of several roads including the proposed ten-lane road of 10km Idongesit Nkanga and Clément Isong

The project came with a 5.4 kilometer underground drainage tunnel and three roundabouts two of which have rainbow water fountains.

The governor announced that the road which is split in two has the portion from Oron Road to Nwaniba Road named after the former governor, Idongesit Nkanga, while the stretch from Oron Road to Aka Road is named after the Former Governor of the former Cross River State, Clement Isong.

The projects were commissioned by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintri, who represented Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as well as Okowa Delta Governor.

Atiku Abubakar said that through Governor Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom has become a hub for aviation, a hub for infrastructure, a hub for healthcare delivery and above all what I liked about him is that he is making Akwa Ibom a hub for agriculture in Nigeria, not to mention the industrialization he is doing.

He said that the various projects of the Governor are very exceptional and capable of attracting investors to the State.

In his goodwill message at the commissioning, Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Bello Tambuwal who said he had been part of the history of the state of Akwa Ibom many times and was proud to be part of the historic unveiling of the 9.5km ten lane road has this to say

“If you multiply 9.5 km by 10, that gives you 95 kilometers of this road executed by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. He has been very successful in virtually all areas of governance.

The Governor of Sokoto affirmed that “from aviation to industries, from agriculture to human capital development, from education to health, Udom Emmanuel is a blessing to Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has officially unveiled the 29 km dualized Etinan-Ndon Eyo road with two cable bridges and a branch from Mbioto-Ekpene Nten to Etinan to Ikot Akpan in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The 2.59 km Atiamkpat-Ikot Ese Ishiet road with a branch at Onna was also put into operation on the same day.

The Etinan – Ndon Eyo road is the first of its kind in Akwa Ibom State with two cable bridges.

The Etinan-Ndon-Eyo road operated by a Chinese construction company, Wizchino Engineering, connects several Etinan and Onna communities to the East-West road and provides access to the state’s industrial belt.

The two-lane – 6-lane road also has footbridges, street lights, cable bridges, three beautiful roundabouts, two of which are adorned with the Dakkada icon.

Residents and motorists on the road praised the governor for the road and promised to continue supporting his administration.

The Ekpene Ukpa Bridge was a nightmare, providing road users with a horrible experience.

Several lives were lost on the old Ekpene Ukpa Bridge, before Governor Emmanuel came to the rescue.

In July last year, Chief Obasanjo had traveled to Akwa Ibom to command the 1km flyover built by Governor Emmanuel at Ikot Oku Ikono in Uyo.

It will be recalled that during his inauguration in 2015, Governor Emmanuel Udom laid out his eight-point agenda for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

This was followed in 2019 with the completion program

During this period, road constructions were at the forefront of its infrastructure development programs.

Under his administration, road projects spanning hundreds of kilometers have been built despite declining revenues accruing to the state due to the current economic crisis.
