Footballer Dele Alli is absent and ‘not answering the phone’, says Besiktas manager
Former Tottenham star Dele Alli has been away in Turkey and is not answering the phone in Besiktas, according to team manager Senol Gunes.
The England international joined Everton after leaving Tottenham Hotspur – the club where he became one of the best young players in the world – in January 2022.
After joining Everton on a free transfer last year, he couldn’t regain his best form until he was loaned out to Besiktas.
His season in Turkey was marred by poor performances and he failed to impress his manager Gunes, who now claims the club are struggling to reach him.
However, this is disputed by Alli, with the player’s representatives insisting the club had given him clearance to return to London for a doctor’s appointment.
Gunes suggested Alli – who had been given time off from training – may not have returned to the club ‘because it’s raining’ – and said he ‘hoped he won’t had no accident”.
‘Dele Alli could not come at this time. It’s raining, I guess that’s why he couldn’t come. We are trying to hear from him. We were unable to reach you by phone. I hope he didn’t have an accident.
It comes just a week after Alli was banned from the squad and told to watch the rest of the season from the stands.
Sportsmail have reported how Besiktas opted not to accept the option to sign Alli for £8million amid his disastrous loan spell, with the player ruled out of his last two games after poor performances.
