Five arrested for armed robbery in Ogun

On September 19, officers from the Ogun State Police Command arrested five men for allegedly robbing a business in Sango ota, Ado odo Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State. Ogun.

A statement issued by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Spokesperson for the State Police Command, said the suspects identified as Umar Haruna, Abbah Yahaya, Muritala Umar, Wale Fadeyi and Segun Olofinmade were arrested following a Distress call received by police officers at Sango Division headquarters around 12 p.m. : 30 midnight, that a group of armed robbers numbering about ten and armed with cutlasses had forced their way into the Balita company and packed away the engines that the company sells.

“On the distress call, DPO Sango Division, SP Saleh Dahiru mobilized his men and moved to the area.

On seeing the police, the thugs who came with a Mitsubishi Canter bus registered LSR 414 YF fled but were chased and five of them were apprehended while others escaped.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the theft incident was orchestrated by the company’s former head of security who was relieved of his duties about three months ago. Said former security chief is currently at large,” Oyeyemi said.

The spokesperson added that items recovered from them include a Mitsubishi Canter bus loaded with ten engines and cutlass.

He added that the state police commissioner, CP Lanre Bankole, ordered that the case be transferred to state criminal investigation departments for a quiet investigation. He also ordered a massive manhunt to find the fugitive former security chief in a bid to bring him to justice.
