CP pledges to bring perpetrators to justice
The Police Commissioner for Electoral Duties at the Rivers State Command, CP Echeng Echeng, has instructed officers in the command to deploy all necessary human and investigative resources to ensure that the campaign manager’s killers of the All Progressives Congress at Ahoada West in Rivers State, Hon. Chisom Lenard, are brought to book.
BIB reported it was the deceased was kidnapped by gunmen dressed in police uniforms while voting for governor and state house of assembly elections were underway in Ibagwa polling unit 2, in Ward 10 of Ahoada West.
His body was found riddled with bullets in a pool of blood along the Ibueahi-Ubeta road in Ahoada West on Saturday evening.
State Police Command spokeswoman Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
“According to reports, the Campaign CEO was shot dead by still identified gunmen on the afternoon of Saturday March 18, 2023. The Commissioner of Police sympathizes with the families of the bereaved and as promised , bring to justice the perpetrators of such a heinous crime”. the statement read.
