A Justice of the Peace’s courtroom sitting in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has ordered the remand in custody of a 60-year-old man, Samuel Gbadamosi, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old woman.
The accused allegedly dedicated the offense at Obasekola Road, Owo, the seat of the Owo Native Authorities Space of the State.
Police prosecutor Augustine Omhenemhen instructed the courtroom that the defendant illegally had carnal relations with the sufferer when she got here to gather a textbook from her daughter, who’s her buddy.
The prosecutor stated the offense was opposite and punishable below Part 357 of the Penal Code, Chapter 37, Quantity 1, Legal guidelines of Ondo State in Nigeria, 2006.
However the accused pleaded not responsible, saying he didn’t impose himself on the sufferer. He additionally stated the sufferer agreed to have intercourse with him of her personal free will.

The prosecutor urged the courtroom to remand the accused within the correctional heart pending the opinion of the workplace of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The defendant’s lawyer, PA Amuluru, begged the courtroom to mood justice with mercy, promising to offer onerous proof and dependable sureties.
In her determination, Justice of the Peace OR Yakubu ordered the remand of the accused to the Olokuta Correctional Middle, pending the opinion of the DPP.
She adjourned the case till April 27, 2023.
