Jeremy Awori, (born 1971) is a Kenyan businessman and business executive who was named Group CEO and director of Transnational Ecobankhe was CEO of Standard Chartered Tanzania between 2008 and 2013, and he also served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Absa Bank Kenya (Previously Barclays Bank of Kenya), from June 2013 to October 2022.

Jeremy Awori was born in Kenya in 1971. His father is Kenyan and works as an engineer, while his mother is British and works as a lawyer.
He was a shy boy from an early age which is why he took up swimming as a hobby and started swimming when he was 7 years old. At age 9, he started representing Kenya in swimming competitions, and it gave him confidence. .
Jeremy Awori assisted Sainte Marie School, Nairobi, for his primary and secondary education. In 1989, he was admitted to the University of Manchester in the UKwhere he studied pharmacy and graduated in 1991.
He later went to McGill university in Canada, where he obtained a Master in Business Administration degree in the 1990s, and focused on finance and international trade.
After graduating from the University of Manchester, he trained as a pharmacist in the UK before moving to Canada for his master’s degree.
Awori was hired by Standard Chartered Bank of Canada in Canada. The company was impressed with his commitment and hard work, which resulted in him being recruited as “retail banking manager», Standard Chartered Bank Kenya, at 28, making him one of the youngest to hold this position. At the same time, he served on the board of directors of Standard Chartered Kenya at this moment.
He was then transferred to the United Arab Emirates as consumer bank manager at Standard Chartered United Arab Emirates. Jeremy Awori was promoted to Regional Sales Manager for the Middle East, South Asia and Africa, based in the United Arab Emirates, after three years in his previous position, where he served for two years. In 2008, he was chosen to be the CEO and Managing Director of Standard Chartered Tanzania where he served until 2013.
In 2013, he was appointed CEO of Barclays Bank Kenya (BBK). BBK changed its name to Absa Bank Kenya in 2020, under the rule of Jeremy Awori. Awori will retire Absa Bank Kenya October 31, 2022, and make a new appointment at Transnational EcoBank as Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, based in Lomé, Togo, on November 1, 2022.
Awori was on the board of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). He is also a member of the board of directors of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) and was previously Chairman of KBA.
