Bandits kill 52-year-old farmer in Niger State
Bandits killed a 52-year-old farmer identified as Samanja, from Baje-Patiko in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to a cousin of the deceased, Esther Barde, he was shot in the neck while working on his irrigation farm on Tuesday morning February 28, 2023.
“Due to the persistent attacks in the area, the inhabitants of most of the villages in the area had left their homes and are now living as displaced persons in Sarkin-Pawa, the headquarters of Munya LGA. So it is from Sarkin- Pawa that Samanja goes to his farm every day. He went to plant okra early in the morning on Tuesday and bandits met him there and killed him,” she said.
She said that Samanja, who left behind his elderly father, was his father’s only surviving son.
According to her, the vigilantes had to intervene to recover the body from the farm.
