ASUU will hold an emergency meeting on the suspension of the strike
The striking University Academic Staff Union, ASUU, will convene an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council, NEC, on Thursday, October 13 to review recent developments, in particular the federal government’s positive response to its demands.
Ahead of the meeting, the union’s leadership has asked its zonal branches to gather members’ views through votes and convey the results to the meeting to be held in Abuja on Thursday. The outcome of Thursday’s meeting would suspend the strike Thursday evening or Friday morning.
The union leadership held a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday, September 10 and hinted at the cancellation of the eight-month-old strike in the coming days.
