”As of today, I stay outside the PDP”- Fayose quits partisan politics
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has announced his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and from partisan politics.
Fayose made the announcement during an interview on ARISE TV on Wednesday, March 1.
Announcing his resignation, Fayose said;
”As of today, I remain out of PDP. I say it here from today, I am stepping down because I have to speak like a leader in this country. I had posted on my Twitter account even in January or December; I have warned the PDP about this issue, if not resolved it will consume this party. I told them there was danger ahead of us. Look at this.
I was invited by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar to a hotel in Lagos. I told him four things, that there were four requests they made of you. One, you’re 76 since last year. The G-5 said, you’re already a candidate, you can’t abort a child that has been delivered.
But let’s go back and say to the Southerners that you will spend four years so it doesn’t seem like it will be eight to eight years in a row for the North because Buhari is leaving and he represents the North whatever the do party.
They told his excellency to make his official announcement, not that he should give it to a member of the G-5.
That you will pass four years and that at that time you will be 80 years old. Not everyone around him agreed; that they cannot say that, “when he becomes president, he will say it”. Who do this ?
