Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ to Resume Filming After Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ Family Reaches Settlement for His Death
Filming on Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ is set to resume as soon as Halyna Hutchins’ widower settles his lawsuit against the actor and others.
It comes after the husband of Halyna Hutchins, who was accidentally shot on set by Baldwin last year, announced he was no longer pursuing legal action against AB or the producers of ‘Rust’, claiming they had entered into terms and agreed to drop his wrongful death lawsuit. .
Hutchins’ husband will now produce the film alongside Alec Baldwin. Baldwin will be reprising his lead role, like all the other actors involved at the start, with the only difference now being who is leading the show and it would be Matthew Hutchins.
Mathew had said;
“We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, for our wrongful death case against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. As part of this settlement, our case will be rejected.
“The filming of Rust, which I will now executive produce, will resume with all of the original major cast members on board in January 2023. I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or blame (to the producers or Mr. Baldwin) . We all think Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I’m grateful that the producers and entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s latest work.”
Lawyers and a representative from Rust Movie Productions LLC said they were happy to have landed on the same page as Matt and were also thrilled to be able to complete their passion project.
Commenting on the development, Alec Baldwin said;
“Throughout this difficult process, everyone has maintained a specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son. We are grateful to everyone who has helped resolve this tragic and painful situation. “
Director Joel Souza also expressed his happiness at this turn of events.
While things may be fine civilly, a criminal investigation is still ongoing in the system and based on recent revelations from the Santa Fe County District Attorney, Alec is not off the hook and could very well be continued sooner rather than later.
