Abia residents carry coffin to ‘bury’ PDP as they celebrate emergence of LP’s Alex Otti as state governor (video)
There was wild jubilation in Abia State today as the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC declared former bank chief, Alex Otti the winner of the March 18 elections in the state.
Mr Otti garnered 175,467 votes to defeat his nearest challenger, Okey Ahiwe of the PDP who garnered 88,529 votes.
After the proclamation of the results, the inhabitants of Abia took to the streets to celebrate. They went wild with excitement dancing and having a fun procession. Cheerful locals who were spotted celebrating the Labor Party candidate’s victory with a coffin were heard saying ‘PDP anwuola’, which loosely translates to PDP is dead.
The PDP has been in power since 1999.
