A Senegalese business tycoon takes his ex-fiancée to court and demands repayment of the money and gifts he gave her during their engagement
Popular Gambian socialite, former fiancé of Aisha Fatty, Senegalese-Gambian business tycoon, Abdoulaye Thiam took her to court to repay all the money and gifts he gave her during their engagement.
Born to Gambian and Egyptian parents, Aisha, a former State House protocol official, was previously married to footballer Tijan Jaiteh, but the marriage was short-lived.
According to a report by The Standard Newspaper Gambia on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, Aisha abruptly ended the engagement and disappeared after receiving millions of Dalasi from the business tycoon.
Abdoulaye was introduced to Aisha in Dakar by a certain Myam Siam, a Senegalese, where they began a good friendship, according to court documents.
Sometime later, according to the suit, Abdoulaye and Aisha started a relationship and he proposed to marry her and soon began preparations for their wedding.
The statement further alleged that prior to the proposed marriage, the two men flew together to Dubai where the plaintiff (Abdoulaye Thiam) spent USD 100,000.00 on their wedding arrangements.
They also traveled to Paris, France, where Abdoulaye claimed to have spent an additional €100,000.00 on designer bags and watches. An additional US$50,000.00 was given to Aisha Fatty to buy African clothes in Nigeria, according to the statement.
The statement also revealed that since their proposed marriage, Abdoulaye has given Aisha the sum of D180,000.00 every month for her upkeep.
However despite all the preparations and expenses made by Abdoulaye in anticipation of his marriage to Aisha, she refused to materialize the marriage which was planned for December 2021.
The plaintiff, Aboulaye, also alleged in the lawsuit that a sum of 150,000.00 euros was granted to Aisha Fatty for the construction of a three-storey building complex in The Gambia, while another sum of 19,500 000.00 dinars had also been granted to him for the purpose of buying a villa at Fajara Waterfront.
Abdoulaye also claims the sum of 822,000,000.00 CFA which he claims was spent on the purchase of gold given to Aïcha for commercial purposes.
The plaintiff further requests a declaration that he is the true owner of a black Mercedes Benz GLE63 Braubus registered BJL 4222W or, in the alternative, the sum of 200,000.00 euros, corresponding to the value of the car.
He also seeks a declaration from the court that he is the bona fide owner of a white Mercedes Benz GLE 53 car registered under the number BJL 0999W or, in the alternative, the sum of USD 102,000.00, value of the car.
The statement further revealed that Aisha’s refusal to go ahead with the proposed marriage has caused great financial loss to the applicant and embarrassment among family, colleagues and friends who have been duly invited to their marriage.
He said Abdoulaye is psychologically troubled by Aisha’s alleged disappointment and will continue to suffer financial and reputational damage if the issues are not resolved in his favor.
The Inspector General of Police is also included in the lawsuit as the cars are currently in police custody.
The court has reliably confirmed that the IGP has received the Notice of Hearing while Aisha Fatty has still not received the Notice of Hearing.
