A man burned alive in Lagos
An as yet unidentified 50-year-old man was burned to death after a fire razed a 25-bedroom apartment block at 48 Jagunmolu Street in the Bariga area of Lagos State on Sunday October 2.
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Fire Service Superintendent Ms Margaret Adeseye said the agency received a distress call at around 3.19am and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene . She said they also received a fire call at around 12:31 a.m. at 19 Apata Street, Shomolu.
“The Shomolu incident involved four rooms and three stores in a bungalow building consisting of eight rooms and four stores, while the Bariga fire involved 10 rooms in a bungalow building consisting of 25 rooms and 18 stores.
Preliminary investigation revealed that negligence was the underlying cause of the two fires which resulted in electrical surge, as a reported shock was observed in Shomolu before firefighters arrived,” she said.
