A final year student of the Federal Polytechnic in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area in Anambra is believed to have committed suicide.
According to Daily Trust, the deceased committed suicide on Friday, November 18, because his girlfriend had abandoned him. According to a source, the young man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, took a sniper after his lover told him to look for another girl.
We understood that the discouraged man was doing his Industrial Attachment (IT), when he was abandoned by his lover.
A student at the institution, Iyke Orji, described the deceased as someone “full of energy and life”.
“He was at the time of computer science, studying public administration. He decided to stay in Oko for his one-year industrial training, (but) instead of focusing on his training, he decided to look for true love,” Orji said.
School authorities have not yet commented on this development. Contacted by LIB, State Police Command spokesman DSP Tochukwu Ikenga said
”I haven’t received a report on this yet. The command would like to take this opportunity to appeal to the witnesses of this incident to provide us with details so that we can first verify the authenticity of this information and possibly find out the cause of the incident.
This will help us advise people with suicidal thoughts on what to do.
