11 villagers ‘killed’ in new Plateau attack
At least 11 residents were reportedly killed after gunmen attacked Maikatako community in Butura district of Bokkos local government area in Plateau state in the early hours of November 16.
DailyTrust reports that the gunmen stormed the community around 1am and began shooting continuously and burning houses. Many people were also reportedly injured in the attack apart from those killed and houses razed to the ground.
“So far around 11 people have died,” a community resident said, adding that some had been burned beyond recognition.
The resident said the attackers returned to the community around 8 a.m. and started shooting. He said there had been no counterattack from the security guards yet.
The State Police Command has not yet commented on this development.
